Battery Monitors

Victron BMV-600

BMV-600

The BMV-600 is Victron's new high precision battery monitor. The essential function of a battery monitor is to calculate amp-hours consumed and the state of charge of a battery. Amp-hours consumed is calculated by integrating the current flowing in or out of the battery.

BMV-602

The BMV-602 has a second voltage measurement input. This input can for example be used to measure the voltage of a starter battery. It can also be connected via an RS232C port to an on-board computeror to your Global Remote permitting access through a GPRS connection.

The demand for luxury and comfort on boats and vehicles grows every day. Unfortunately, more luxury and comfort means a larger web of wiring and monitoring/control panels. This web creates a confusing and inefficient situation for the user. ED&D Technologies has developed a solution for this universal problem: E-Plex.

Together with ED&D, Victron has developed the ‘VE.Bus to E-Plex protocol Converter’ (VEC). This new product connects Victron equipment to the E-Plex network. The result of a seamless cooperation between the Victron units and E-Plex is simple power management of all inverters, Multi’s and Quattro’s. With E-Plex, the user can turn the units on/off and set current limits for the PowerAssist functionality. The power, voltages and values of the AC and DC currents can be read out as well.

Obtaining system information wherever and whenever

The Global Remote is a modem which sends alarms, warnings and system status reports to cellular phones via text messages (SMS). It can also log data from Victron Battery Monitors, Multi’s, Quattro’s and Inverters to a website through a GPRS connection. The usage of this website is free of charge.

The idea is simple: you can use it to get SMS alarms from a Multi, a Battery System, or both. When monitoring the usage of batteries, it can be extremely helpful to receive under and overvoltage alarms; whenever they occur. For this purpose, the Global Remote is perfect. A prepaid SIM-card (for example) in combination with the Global Remote is adequate for remotely monitoring your system.

Advanced usage: Monitoring historic data
Taking it one step further, an internet browser and -connection is all you need to view all of the data online. You can simply create an account on the website and add your modem(s). Subsequently you can configure the GPRS connection, which will enable you to monitor the historic data of several basic properties such as system voltages, power levels and status information. All of this data is graphed. These graphs are available in daily, weekly and monthly timeframes.
