Comar Systems Automatic Identification System Equipment
Comar Systems manufactures products for the marine Automatic Identification System (AIS) market. Comar was formed over 25 years ago, and has a wealth of experience in all aspects of marine electronics. In 2004 Comar was one of the first companies in the world to develop and market a ‘receive only’ AIS unit, the SLR200. To date many thousands of SLR200 receiver units have been sold worldwide, to Harbour Authorities, Monitoring Stations, small commercial vessels, fishing boats and leisure craft.
Panbo, the weblog supported by Cruising World and Yachting Magazines, has a run-down on the Comar Multi AIS and discusses the options for vessel-owners.
CSB200
The CSB200 is a low cost, Class "B"AIS transponder, designed specifically for the Leisure Marine and Fishing Boat market. It meets the new Class "B" standard that allows vessels that are not required to fit Class "A" units to voluntarily fit an AIS transponder. It enables boats sailing in busy shipping lanes to automatically transmit their current position, course and speed to other vessels and shore stations within VHF range.
Connected to a compatible on board PC running a Navigation Program, or Chart Plotter, information received from other vessels or shore stations can also be displayed on screen giving the skipper or navigator a visual interpretation of the name, position, course and speed of vessels within VHF range. This information is updated every three seconds to six minutes depending on speed and rate of turn, enabling the track of the vessels in range to be plotted.
AIS-2-NMEA
The AIS-2-NMEA is a Dual Channel Parallel synthesized AIS receiver designed specifically for the Leisure Marine, Fishing Boat and Vessel Monitoring market. It enables boats sailing in busy shipping lanes, to receive AIS (Automatic Identification System) information being transmitted from Class “A” transponders as fitted to vessels over 300 tons, and non-mandatory Class "B" transponders as fitted to small commercial and leisure craft.
Connected to a compatible dedicated marine Chart Plotter, the information can be displayed on screen giving the skipper or harbour authority a visual interpretation of the name, position, course and speed of vessels within VHF range. This information is updated every three seconds to six minutes depending on speed and rate of turn, enabling the track of the vessels in range to be plotted.
This unit is also available with USB connection, as AIS-2-USB.

SLR200N
The SLR200N is a Dual Channel Parallel synthesized Ethernet AIS receiver, designed specifically for the Leisure Marine, Fishing Boat and Vessel Monitoring market. It enables coastal stations, or boats sailing in busy shipping lanes, to receive AIS (Automatic Identification System) information being transmitted from Class “A” transponders as fitted to vessels over 300 tons, and non-mandatory Class "B" transponders as fitted to small commercial and leisure craft.
Connected to a PC or Router, via the industry standard RJ45 connector, the SLR200N enables AIS data to be shared on a local network or accessed from a remote location. When connected to a PC running compatible AIS software information can be displayed giving visual interpretation of the name, position, course and speed of vessels within VHF range.
This unit is also available with an internal GPS receiver as the SLR200NG.
CSD200
The CSD200 is a dedicated colour AIS Display designed to display and control information from either the CSA200 Class A transponder or the CSB200 Class B transponder. Full initialisation and control over either transponder is available from simple menu setup screens.
All AIS equipped vessels within VHF range can be displayed on a radar like screen or on a worldwide background chart, and with the addition of a C-Map chart cartridge targets can be overlaid onto a full colour detailed chart background.
