Anodes
All boats with metal parts exposed to the water need cathodic protection to protect the metal from corrosion. Sacrificial anodes form the main part of any cathodic protection scheme. These galvanic anodes have a higher electrochemical potential than the boat or its fittings, and are consumed in preference. They must be replaced regularly.
